Five

Following my departure from banking Margaret returned to Olds and her former job with Banner Pharmacaps while I remained in Oyen to tidy up and sell our home before finding rental accommodation. The move back to Olds necessitated placing some of our belongings into storage while we looked for a new home. A house was purchased and we took possession June 30, 1998 and began the process of renovating as we made this small house our forever home.

During this time I needed to find new employment and tried retail at Beaver Lumber before finding my final career with Olds Association for Community Living in 2001. I worked with individuals with developmental difficulties for the next 12 years and greatly enjoyed this field of endeavour volunteering with Special Olympics through which I have made many new friends and attended provincial and national summer and winter games.

During this time I volunteered with several historical societies and recreated with neighbours and friends in golf during the summer and bowling and curling from fall through spring. I also began to build a model railway in 2006 at home and in 2009 joined a group of model railroaders to begin work on a club layout at the Didsbury Museum. More can be found through my pages on model railroading.

As our children grew and left home to start their own stories Marg and I watched our parents entered their declining years with Marg's parents both passing in 2006 and my father in 2012 and mother in 2015. Margaret retired in 2011 and I followed in 2013 and we were able to enjoy a few years of travel with our last trip together in June of 2015.

Please continue to follow my progress in the land of my memories.
