The Banking Years

The banking years began in August 1969 in Thunder Bay, Ontario and came to an end January 1998 in Oyen, Alberta after almost 27 years. During that time I lived in many places in Saskatchewan and Alberta, met the woman I would marry and raise two fine children with.

This journey began with my first move in February 1971 to Regina where I worked in two branches of the Bank of Nova Scotia. I was transferred to Saskatoon for a short time before moving on to Melfort in the spring of 1972. I had met Margaret in Winnipeg in November 1970 and I proposed to her December 28, 1972 and we were subsequently married in Winnipeg August 25, 1973. Our married life began in Melfort where we celebrated our first anniversary just prior to moving to Brooks, Alberta where I began work for Alberta Treasury Branches in September 1974.

From Brooks we moved to Didsbury in 1975 and on to Lac La Biche in 1976 where our son William was born in November. A further move in 1978 took us to Grande Prairie where our daughter Kathleen was born in October. From there we toured the province stopping in Innisfail, Fahler, Andrew, Caroline and taking a longer rest in Olds where our children both graduated high school before going on to university. In 1996 we were on the move again this time to Oyen near the Saskatchewan border where in January 1998 my banking career came to an end and we returned to Olds to buy our home and work to retirement.

Please continue to follow my progress in the land of my memories.
